First janaza of Comilla University teacher’s son Opratim held

The first namaz-e-janaza of 13-year-old Ishiat Shahriar Opratim was held at the playground beside the Central Jame Mosque of Comilla University at 10:13am today.

Comilla University's vice-chancellor, along with teachers, officials, employees and students, attended the janaza.

The second janaza will be held at the Gandhamati Eidgah ground at 11:00am, after which Opratim will be buried at the Kotbari-Gandhamati graveyard, said his father, KM Firoz Shahriar.

“The grave is being prepared at the Kotbari-Gandhamati graveyard,” he said.

Opratim’s body was recovered yesterday afternoon, nearly 24 hours after he went missing from the Kotbari-Gandhamati area of Cumilla city.

He was the only son of Nahida Begum, an associate professor in the Bangla Department at Comilla University, and KM Firoz Shahriar, a businessman living in Ward 24 of the Kotbari-Gandhamati area.

Opratim was a class-VII student at Comilla Border Guard Public School.
