Trump Vows to Impose 25% Tariff on Mexico and Canada on First Day
Donald Trump announced on Monday that he plans to implement a 25 percent tariff on all imports from Mexico and Canada as one of his first actions if he becomes U.S. president in January.
"This tariff will stay in place until the flow of drugs, particularly fentanyl, and illegal immigration ceases to threaten our country," Trump stated on his Truth Social platform. Notably, he did not reference the existing trilateral free trade agreement between the three nations.
